  • Warming trend continues, high clouds, light breeze, temp: 52, high: 65. Today is the last day for a week with a high less than 70. Yippee! And only 4 days of remaining February with the high less than 70.
  • Diane & Jim left early this morning with Wendy, taking her to the Harlingen airport as she's returning to Minnesota today.
  • J&D and D&C drove over to Pharr South for a craft sale. They really went for Jim to get Biscuits & Gravy which they sell during the craft sale.
  • I drove Jim to PT for his 10:30 appointment. Lasted almost 2 hours.
  • After lunch with them temperature over 60, I biked my 2 1/4 miles routes around the park.
  • This afternoon, Jim received some papers that needed his signature and returned to sender. The scan capability on his computer had never been used/tested. So 3 hours later I got the driver installed, the documents scanned, & returned to the original sender. But what a job.
  • Late afternoon, I called Dave for an update on his family. He's still having back pain, but has an appointment at the VA to work the problem. Thanks Dave, for the update.
  • This evening J&D are going to another park with the Sasse's to play Bingo. I'm going to a gospel show at the Hall entitled Kieth Ross Gospel Show. It was just so, so. It included 6 performers: Keith Ross, Jay & Tammy, Lafayette & Vada.
  • And now for my pictures.
  • Lots of people, mostly men, should know what this is a picture of & where it was taken & about the year it was taken.

  • I'll give you the answer tomorrow.

  • Cold front came through overnight; morning is cool, windy, blustery, high clouds, temp: 56, high: 58. Light rain today.
  • At the Canadians breakfast this morning at Taco Fiesta, we had 9 guys and lots of good conversation, eh.
  • Drove Jim & Diane, Dan & Candy, and Wendy to Progresso Nuevo where Wendy bought some souvenir gifts and several purchased medications. While waiting in the van for everyone to return, Candy's phone was lost. Fortunately, we found it when we got home. And as usual, we had a late lunch at Arturo's in Progresso.
  • And Dan & Candy's car failed Saturday afternoon. They pushed it into a parking lot and called the police about it. This morning when the businesses came to work, they called a tow company and had it towed away. This afternoon, they found the car at a tow company and had to pay to get it back. It currently is in a garage being diagnosed on what it failed.
  • This evening, the women went to play Bingo while Jim went to play cards at the Hall. I rested.
  • And to continue my Christmas parade of pictures, recall when Dan & Dawn were here over Christmas, they wanted to go view & photograph the Christmas lights at the Hidalgo Festival of Lights. But of course they had to do that after dark. So it was 9 or 10 o'clock when they'd leave. I was just too tired to go out that late. So I'd stay home. But they brought me lots of pictures, some of which are shown below. (These photos were also taken Christmas night.) Thanks Dan & Dawn for the great memories.

Sunday, February 1, 2015

  • Mostly clear morning, light breeze, warm, temp: 65, high: 82, light rain forecast (60%)
  • Jim & Diane & Wendy attended the church service in the Hall.
  • After church, we drove over to Don-Wes Flea Market so Wendy could get some items.
  • With the Super Bowl getting all the attention this evening, both the ice cream social and movie have been canceled.
  • As you can see in my picture below, our Super Bowl party is fairly small. Guess most people wanted to watch it at home. Or is it that few wanted to watch it at all?

  • pleasant morning: high, thin clouds; light breeze, temp: 64, high: 78.
  • the trip to the Harlingen airport last evening was uneventful. Traffic was light. Wendy's plane was on time. We were home in bed by nearly 11.
  • this morning is our regular Saturday morning pancake breakfast in the Hall. Today the menu was sausage & eggs. Mmm . . . good.
  • Spent a couple hours in the library penning a message to RidgePointe helpers on providing a series of classes on Smartphones, from purchasing one to organizing files.
  • Late morning, several of us traveled to a Lutheran church in McAllen for a Lutefisk dinner. I did have to bites. But confirmed that indeed I really do not like Lutefisk. Fortunately, they had Swedish meat balls as an alternate main dish.
  • Late afternoon on our way to see the Bernie & Red show at Victoria Palms, we stopped at a Subway for a light supper. The picture below is from there.
  • Then last evening we drove on to Victoria Palms to see the very entertaining show of Bernie & Red. Probably one of the best in the valley this Winter.
